Last week I had the chance to be part of something really special here in Chandler, Arizona – Strut Bridal Wedding Gown Boutique’s Sweet 16 anniversary celebration (and yes, they’ve actually been serving brides for 16 amazing years). The boutique brought together some of the best wedding vendors in the Phoenix Valley, and the energy in the room was exactly what you’d expect from a top-tier bridal event – busy, beautiful, and full of inspiration for future brides.
As a professional bridal makeup artist based in Arizona, I (Makeup By Diana) had the honor of doing makeup for two of Strut’s team members and one model. Each look was completely customized, because no two faces – or personalities – are the same. One staff member wanted something more dramatic and bold, while the other leaned soft and natural. That’s always my approach with bridal and event makeup: enhance who you are, not cover it up.
For the model, I had full creative freedom, which is always fun. Since she was changing into multiple wedding dresses throughout the event, I kept her makeup versatile and timeless. I focused on a neutral, minimalist, dewy makeup look, which is one of the biggest bridal makeup trends right now, especially for Arizona weddings where skin needs to look fresh but still hold up in the heat. Think glowing skin, soft definition, and lightweight coverage that photographs beautifully in every dress.
To tie everything together (and match the event’s pink and white theme), I chose a deeper pink lip – perfect for our model complexion and flattering across different bridal styles. It’s one of those shades that works whether you’re going classic, romantic or modern.
Hair was beautifully done by Lolitta with Hair with Love by Lolitta, and together the looks came to life effortlessly. It’s a great reminder of how important it is to have a cohesive glam team on your wedding day.
We also ran into one of our favorite local vendors, Modshots Photo Booth. If you are planning a wedding or event in the Phoenix or Chandler area, definitely keep them in mind. Of course, we had to jump in for a photo.
