At Makeup By Diana, every woman and every guest who chooses to have makeup done is important. We often focus on brides, mothers of the bride and bridesmaids. But sometimes the flower girls are left out of the conversation. To me, flower girls are just as special as the bride.
These little princesses light up the wedding day with their innocence and joy. I often wonder what’s going through their minds as they get ready, but one thing is for sure: when they hear they will have their turn in the makeup chair, their excitement is contagious.
Throughout the years, I had the pleasure of glamming flower girls as young as 3 and as old as 7. Each one had a sparkle in her eyes when she realized she would get her very own touch of makeup. At first, they are usually shy when it’s time to sit in the chair, but the moment they look in the mirror and see a hint of glam, their priceless little smiles say it all.
When working with flower girls, I always make sure parents feel confident and safe. Their makeup is always age-appropriate, light and fun – never overdone. I normally use just a little lip gloss, blush and sometimes one soft eyeshadow shade (pink is always a favorite). A touch of shimmer can make them feel extra special, without causing any discomfort during the long day.
Flower girl makeup isn’t about a full glam look. It is simply about helping them feel included and confident as they walk down the aisle.
* Bonus for my brides and families: at Makeup By Diana, flower girl makeup is always complimentary. There is no charge for these little princesses, because they deserve to feel just as cherished as the bride.
