If you’ve chosen Halloween as your wedding day or have a Halloween-themed wedding, I would like to provide you with some unique makeup ideas. While Halloween weddings might bring to mind bold, dark makeup looks, remember that your makeup can be as soft or as dramatic as you like. Even for a theme as unique as this, you can choose to stay true to your everyday makeup style and simply add a festive twist.
Now, let’s dive into some ideas that you could consider.
DRAMATIC OR STATEMENT LIPS
One way to stand out is by focusing on your lips. If you’re someone who loves making a statement with your lip color, Halloween is the perfect occasion to go bold. Think deep reds, plums or blackberry shades to complement the spooky, dark tones of Halloween. However, be sure to carry your lipstick with you for touch-ups, as darker shades tend to fade more noticeably. Perfect application is key to avoiding any unevenness that can be more noticeable with bold colors.
BOLD SULTRY EYES
If you’re considering dramatic changes for your eye makeup, opt for darker tones. A sultry, smoky eye using black or deep hues can work wonders for a Halloween bride, giving you a glamorous yet bold look. Adding glitter to your eyeshadow can create extra sparkle, but be cautious about fallout (tip for you to use – add eyelash glue to the area you want glitter, before applying it). If done right, your eye makeup can enhance both the shape and color of your eyes, offering a look that’s elegant yet appropriate for your themed wedding.
One of my favorite Halloween bridal looks was for a bride who wore a black wedding dress and a flower crown. We went dramatic with her makeup – darker tones in the corners of her eyes and warm-toned glitter on the eyelids for an eye-catching sparkle (see picture above).
DIFFERENT COLOR CHOICES
Your Halloween theme doesn’t have to be all about dark, moody colors. If you’re going for a more whimsical or floral theme, you could totally opt for a bright or colorful makeup. A bold, colorful lipstick paired with vibrant eyeshadow can work beautifully in this situation..
Are you considering colors that are associated with fall or Halloween? Then play with colors like deep burgundy, rich plums and burnt oranges to tie your makeup into the autumn season. Metallics and gold accents can also be great additions, especially if you’re incorporating fall florals or pumpkin elements into your wedding decor.
ACCENTS FOR EXTRA FLAIR
Want to add an extra touch of uniqueness? Consider placing gemstones or rhinestones on your face for an ethereal glow. Highlighter is also a must! Adding a little extra glow to your cheekbones will give your face a radiant finish, making you stand out and feel extra special on your big day.
Whether you want to go full-on dramatic or keep it more natural, your Halloween wedding makeup should reflect your personality while embracing the spirit of the day. Enjoy your celebration and may your day be filled with magic and unforgettable moments!
