If you are planning your wedding, I can tell that finding the right vendors can be both exciting and overwhelming. So by attending wedding open houses, which offer you the opportunity to meet potential vendors face-to-face, experience their work and get a feel for how they’ll contribute to your big day, can be a great idea.
If you are here reading this post, you’re probably still searching for your wedding makeup artist. If an online search leaves you hesitant, check out what wedding venues are holding open houses and attend in person. It’s free and you can only benefit from it!
Here are some reasons why:
GET A FEEL FOR THE VENDORS
Meeting vendors face-to-face gives you a chance to see how you vibe with them. If you don’t feel comfortable or your gut tells you to keep looking, don’t commit. It’s imperative that you have a positive connection because your wedding day is all about you and how you feel. Not every vendor is the right fit, so it’s perfectly okay to shop around.
ASK QUESTIONS IN REAL TIME
Bring a list of questions with you to cover everything that matters. Take notes as you chat so no details get forgotten. Don’t feel pressured to commit on the spot – go home, reflect and follow up via email to confirm any discussions and avoid miscommunication. But if you love the artist, don’t wait too long to book them!
CHECK AVAILABILITY BEFORE GETTING ATTACHED
It’s heartbreaking to connect with a vendor only to discover they aren’t available on your wedding day. Always ask about their availability early in the conversation to save yourself the disappointment later.
GET INSPIRED BY THEIR PORTFOLIO
Many makeup artists bring photos of their work to open houses. This is a great opportunity to see their style and the diversity of clients they’ve worked with. Follow them on social media to get a deeper sense of their professionalism and commitment to their craft.
BUILD A RELATIONSHIP
Meeting vendors in person helps build rapport. When you reach out after the event, it feels different to talk with someone you’ve met compared to a complete stranger. This relationship can help everything go more smoothly in the lead-up to your big day.
NETWORK WITH OTHER BRIDES
While meeting vendors is great, don’t forget that open houses are also a chance to network with other brides. They might share recommendations and endorse professionals they’ve worked with, giving you even more ideas for your wedding artist.
Speaking of open houses, I recently had the pleasure of attending one as a makeup vendor at The Views at Superstition here in Arizona, where I had the chance to meet many wonderful brides and other industry professionals. The experience really highlighted the value of these events for both vendors and brides-to-be.
At the event, I teamed up with Lolitta from Hair with Love by Lolitta. Together, we tried to create a fun atmosphere at our table, where we had the chance to meet many couples planning their wedding.
If attending open houses sounds like just collecting business cards, well…it’s more about finding the right vibe for your wedding day.
So, if you’re planning your wedding, don’t miss out on the chance to attend open houses. They are not just informative. They are fun, interactive experiences that can help you turn your wedding dreams into reality!
